Sincera is meant to work for everyone, including members who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or other assistive technology. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We’re not going to pretend we’re finished; this page says honestly where we are, and how to tell us when something doesn’t work for you.
1. What we've done
- Semantic structure. Pages use real HTML (headings in order, landmarks, lists, and a declared page language), so assistive technology can navigate them.
- Labeled forms. Form fields across the join application, sign-in, couples check-up, and messaging carry programmatic labels, not just placeholder text.
- Keyboard operability. Interactive controls are native buttons, links, and inputs, so they can be reached and activated with a keyboard.
- Contrast-checked palette. We measured our text colors against WCAG AA mathematically (including the muted tones) and darkened the combinations that fell short. Body text on our ivory background measures well above the 4.5:1 requirement.
- Reduced motion respected. Animations honor your system’s “reduce motion” preference.
- Meaningful alt text. Informative images carry descriptions; purely decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
2. Known limitations
From our most recent review (July 2026), these are the gaps we know about and haven’t closed yet:
- A full manual audit, a keyboard-only walkthrough of every flow and a screen-reader pass, hasn’t been completed yet. It’s on our list, and the items below come from a lighter review.
- In messaging, newly arrived messages aren’t announced to screen readers yet; a screen-reader user must re-read the conversation to find them.
- In the assessment, the 1–5 answer buttons announce their number and selected state, but the “strongly disagree / strongly agree” endpoints are visual only; they aren’t attached to each button for screen readers. The progress bar is likewise visual, though the “Step X of Y” text carries the same information.
- Focus indication on text fields uses a border-color change rather than a high-visibility focus ring; we plan a dedicated focus-style pass.
- To stop mobile browsers from zooming unexpectedly when a form field is focused, we cap the page’s initial zoom; pinch-to-zoom remains available on current iOS and Android, but some accessibility checkers flag this technique.
3. Tell us; we'll fix it
If any part of Sincera is hard or impossible for you to use, write to hello@sinceralove.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line and, if you can, the page and what happened. A person reads every message, and we commit to responding, and where we’ve fallen short, to fixing it or providing the information another way.
